UPDATE
Hannah and I are no longer actively selling Zyia Active BUT you can still shop all activewear in our online store with Zyia Active. We truly believe they offer the best in Activewear and wear it on the daily.
It’s February here in North East, Ohio which means cold weather and lots of snow. At this time of year, it’s definitely more challenging to get outside to stay active. We are so thankful to have our Jazzercise Community to keep us moving! Jazzercise is challenging helping to build endurance and strength, plus it’s so much fun! Not only do they offer dance mix classes, they have interval fusion, dance interval, and strength training. Most sessions last 60 mins with a core work out and stretch at the end. One thing we’ve learned at Jazz, good support for your chest is very important!
That’s why we are going to share with you our TOP THREE sports bras from Zyia Active for high impact work outs. But first, let’s talk about why it is so important to make sure you are well supported regardless of the size of your breasts or type of activity you participate in.
According to Kayla Itsines, a personal trainer and co-author of Bikini Body Guides, there are many reasons why investing in a well made and supportive sports bra is a good idea. In her blog, “How Important is Wearing a Sports Bra,” the correct support is very important.
Why?
“Our breasts are made up of fatty tissue which is surrounded by skin and fragile ligaments called ‘Cooper’s Ligaments’. The problem with this is once Cooper’s ligaments are stretched or broken down, they will sag and nothing can fix this. It doesn’t matter whether you breasts are big or small, we all have Cooper’s ligaments that can be broken down over time and they won’t bounce back.”
Let’s face it…there’s a lot going on in our breasts! The breast tissue is sensitive and it’s important to take care of them. Corrective or plastic surgery can be very expensive so being pro-active in taking care of your body is important. Even as a young mom breastfeeding, I learned that supporting your breasts so they maintain their shape will help prevent sagging after weaning your child. The same idea applies if your bra is not supportive enough even during low impact exercise. Using the wrong bra can also cause pain and discomfort in your breasts.
No matter what level of exercise you participate in, you will need a supportive bra.
There are different level bras to choose from ranging from low impact to high impact.
Here’s the difference:
Low Impact: Designed with less compression for walking, yoga, and strength training.
Medium Impact: Designed to support while hiking, cycling, and skiing.
High Impact: Designed with the most compression for full support while running, jumping, aerobics, and mountain biking.
According to this blog post from strongerr.com,
“Sports bras for women are designed to reduce movement of your breast while exercising.”
This is important to reduce pain while working out, to support your breast tissue while working out, and to prevent sagging of the breast tissue.
Here are some key features to look for in a good sports bra:
Wide supportive band under your breasts. Most high impact sports bras have an elastic band that fits right under the breasts aiding in support and compression.
Molded cups to support and hold your breasts.
Wide shoulder bands for comfort and support. Sizing is key to finding the right fit. Make sure the straps are not too tight because this can lead to discomfort in the shoulders, neck, and back.
Most sports bras are pull over your head, but some do offer back and front closure for ease of comfort taking them on and off.
