My sister and I absolutely love designing and creating hand stamped bracelets and necklaces. Nothing makes us happier than encouraging women and providing them with a visual reminder of truth and how much they are loved throughout their day.

Together, we have been creating jewelry for the past fifteen years and metal stamping is by far our favorite thing to do. Metal Stamping allows us to use our creativity with endless possibilities. We often get custom orders from our customers asking us to stamp a special saying or quote and it’s not unusual for us to receive messages from our customers years later saying how much they still love their bracelet.

Which inevitably leads to this question,

“How do we get our bracelet looking like new again?”

That’s why we decided that this article was way overdue.

So you love your hand stamped bracelet but you’ve noticed that it has lost it’s shine and the lettering is beginning to fade.

What should you do?

After all, you wear your bracelet every. single. day.

As much as we take special care to ensure each bracelet is polished and perfect for our customers, we cannot prevent daily wear and tear over time.

But there is a solution!!! (for most bracelets)

Our bracelets are made with high quality, 12 gauge 1100-0 pure food safe aluminum. This means our hand stamped cuff bracelets are strong, durable, and easy to clean. Plus, aluminum is great for people with metal sensitivity and is less reactive to skin than sterling silver.

Let’s go over the items you will need to restore and clean up your bracelet.

First, we use Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Markers to fill in the lettering on our bracelets. There are other products out there that can be used such as enamel paint pens, but we have found Sharpie Markers to be the easiest to use and clean up.

Next, you will need Rubbing Alcohol to clean up the ink from the Sharpie Marker. Now this is a special announcement for all the Type A personalities out there…it’s ok to make a mess!!!! Because Rubbing Alcohol will clean it up. However, I know most Type A’s will try their best to stay in the lines and that’s ok too. We do recommend using over 90% proof rubbing alcohol only because if you use lesser proof than this, you will have to rub the ink longer.

Finally, we use Sunshine Polishing Cloths to shine up our cuff bracelets. We prefer these polishing cloths over others because they just do an awesome job removing any left over ink and it gives the bracelet a nice shine. You can use them over and over again until the entire cloth turns black.

What does this mean?

Yes, you can make your bracelet shiny & beautiful once again.

Here is a step by step guide to clean your bracelet.

Supplies you will need:

  1. Rubbing Alcohol (preferably over 90% proof)

  2. Paper towels

  3. Ultra fine tip black Sharpie Marker

  4. Sunshine Polishing Cloth or jewelers polishing cloth

Step by step guide to clean your bracelet:

  • Fill in the lettering with your fine tip sharpie maker. (this is where we give you permission to go out of the lines!!!)

  • Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the paper towel and clean the entire bracelet.

  • Polish the bracelet with the Sunshine Polishing Cloth.

  • These steps can be used for brass and copper bracelets too.
